Once again, the UK Construction Week (UKCW) is set to bring the UK construction industry together with its highly anticipated annual shows in London and Birmingham. As the largest event of its kind in the UK, the UKCW offers professionals unrivalled access to the British construction industry’s whole supply chain. For businesses that leverage exhibition stands as a pivotal element of their marketing strategies, the UKCW provides a vital opportunity to connect with peers, engage with potential clients, and stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry.
This year’s event promises a week’s worth of innovation showcases, networking opportunities, and expert-led seminars designed to illuminate the latest trends and technologies in the built environment. Tens of thousands of attendees will navigate a comprehensive agenda packed with insightful seminars, live demonstrations, and ample opportunities for business development, making it an essential date in the industry’s calendar.
Dates and venue
Unlike many other trade shows held in the UK, the UK Construction Week is divided into two geographically distinct events, with one held in London and the other in Birmingham. Both shows have separate, three-day programmes that are free to attend via an online ticket registration system.
First up is the UK Construction Week London which will be held at the prominent Exhibition Centre London (ExCeL) from 7 May to 9 May 2024. This venue has been operational since November 2000 and offers a vast, flexible space spanning over 100,000 square meters.
Also not to be missed is the UK Construction Week Birmingham, held at the multi-award-winning NEC Birmingham in Marston Green from 1 October to 3 October 2024. A bigger venue than London’s ExCeL, the NEC is the largest exhibition venue in the country and is thus an important asset for the UKCW show. It is also the best connected, being situated right in the middle of the UK’s main highways.
Event outline and history
Organised by media and events company Media 10 Limited, the UKCW is the UK’s premier exhibition event focused wholly on the built environment. Not only is the UKCW one of the largest events on the exhibitions calendar, it is also one of the most established with the first event held at the NEC in Birmingham in 2015. The London ExCeL show followed later in 2022, and the organisers have not looked back. In 2024, the UKCW Birmingham and UKWC London expect a combined total of over 45,000 visitors.
What to expect from the UK Construction Week exhibition
For many, the highlight of the UKCW London and UKCW Birmingham events is undoubtedly the world-class exhibition event, where companies working with the built environment showcase all their latest innovations. Indeed, over 300 exhibitors will be at the 2024 UKCW London and over 350 will be at the 2024 NEC event in Birmingham, so there will be plenty of things to see and people to meet.
Note that both UKCW exhibitions feature a seminar programme packed with stimulating talks by leading industry professionals; these seminars will accompany dedicated networking gatherings for newcomers and industry experts alike. Ultimately, these programmes provide an excellent window into a vibrant UK construction sector that is constantly innovating and promoting skills development.
Products and services
With the UKCW’s broad focus on British construction’s whole supply chain, there is usually an enormous variety of construction industry-related products and services on display. These include, amongst many others, products like concrete slabs, astroturfing, boilers, power tools and sensor equipment. Some of the services advertised include tool-renting firms specialist recruiters, installers of insulation material, environmental compliance consultants, and many more. World-class engineering firms will also be there alongside security providers, health and safety practitioners, and material testing firms.
The UKCW 2024 will also highlight the digital side of the construction industry training board, with its digital construction training hub. There, visitors can expect to engage with the tech-savvy digital construction scene that covers software, robotics, cloud services, drones, and 3D printers.
Events
Both the UKWC London and the UKWC Birmingham will feature several unique co-located shows that add even more value to an already-busy exhibition programme, including a Timber Expo, Roofing Expo, Concrete Expo, and an Offsite Show.
TIMBER AND ROOFING EXPO
These two special events will provide more detailed expositions on the timber and roofing sectors of the construction industry. The former will focus on lumber and woodworking equipment, while the latter will tackle the different aspects of construction works, roofing, cladding and insulation. Both are co-located with the Birmingham show.
CONCRETE EXPO
Exclusive to the London show, the Concrete Expo focuses specifically on the world of concrete technology, applications and products. It will also feature interactive zones in the form of a technical advice clinic and a dedicated concrete testing, repair and reinforcement zone.
OFFSITE SHOW
Co-located with the UKCW London is the innovative Offsite Show, which is dedicated to the captivating process of offsite construction. It will feature over 100 companies with experience in providing offsite building solutions.
